Chamberlain Policies

Please review the Chamberlain College of Nursing College Catalog or the Chamberlain College of Nursing Student Handbook for detailed information about Chamberlain policies.

Attendance Policy

Attendance is tracked through the Canvas Learning Management System. Students who do not participate in a course for seven (7) consecutive calendar days will be sent an impending attendance dismissal notice advising that he or she must attend within the next seven (7) calendar days or will be withdrawn from the course. Participation is defined as submitting a class assignment, participating in discussions, or completing quizzes and exams. For more information on the attendance policy and how violations of the policy may result in an administrative withdrawal, please see the Attendance and Administrative Withdrawal and Appeal sections of the Academic Catalog.

Late Assignment Policy

Students are expected to submit assignments by the time they are due. Assignments submitted after the due date and time will receive a deduction of 10% of the total points possible for that assignment for each day the assignment is late. Assignments will be accepted, with penalty as described, up to a maximum of three days late, after which point a zero will be recorded for the assignment. Late assignments will not be accepted beyond the last day of the course, Wednesday (end of day, 11:59 p.m. MT) of Week 8. Any assignments received after the conclusion of the course will result in a zero recorded for the assignment, unless prior arrangements are made with faculty.

In the event of an emergency that prevents timely submission of an assignment, students may petition their instructor for a waiver of the late submission grade reduction. The instructor will review the student’s rationale for the request and make a determination based on the merits of the student’s appeal. Consideration of the student’s total course performance to date will be a contributing factor in the determination. Students should continue to attend class, actively participate, and complete other assignments while the appeal is pending.

This Policy applies to assignments that contribute to the numerical calculation of the course letter grade.

Quizzes and discussions are not considered assignments and are not part of the late assignment policy.

Late Discussion Policy

Please review the individual discussion board grading rubric for participation requirements within the course.

Quiz and Exam Policies

Quizzes and exams must be completed and uploaded prior to 1159pm MT on the due date. Any quiz or exam that is uploaded to Examplify/ExamSoft after the due date without prior approval will be considered a missed quiz or exam and a zero will be placed in the Gradebook.

Students are not permitted to review completed quizzes or exams. Please review your Strengths and Opportunities Report and contact your instructor for any questions regarding this report.
